The Grenada Broadcasting Network (GBN) is the largest media network in Grenada. GBN, which was formed in 1998, is jointly owned by the Caribbean Communications Network with 60% shareholding and the Government of Grenada with 40%. Grenada has a population of just about 100,000.
The company consists of three radio stations, Klassic Radio and Hott FM, GBN Gospel and a television station – GBN Television.
Its studios are located at Observatory Road in St. George’s.
Klassic Radio
Klassic Radio transmits on 105.5 FM and 105.9 FM and is received throughout Grenada and its neighbouring islands. Its audience is served up with an excellent mix of “traditional radio” classics, soft music, talk/call-in and community programming.
Klassic Radio is the soul of Grenada as its listeners use radio as their main source of reliable news, information and entertainment.
Hott FM
HOTT FM was started in 1997 and was formerly branded, Sun FM. It can be found on the frequencies of 98.5 FM and 98.7 FM.
Hott FM is an urban music station, with its target audience being predominantly young adults and youth, ranging between 13 to 35 years. Hott FM’s transmission strength has increased in power by over 100% resulting in increased reach as far as the islands of Carraicou, Petit Martinique and other Grenadine islands in the north.
GBN Television
GBN Television transmits on channels 7 & 11. These two channels cover almost all areas of Grenada and the Grenadines.
The station’s programming which previously contained over 80% foreign programming has transformed its output in recent times, providing mostly local programming throughout the broadcast day with increased local news and current affairs type programmes.
The nightly local newscast at 7:00 pm is the most viewed television programme in the country.
